Written by Kakeguri mangaka Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Kei Saki, the Kaekugurui Twins is set two years before the main series and tells the story of Hyakko Private Academy Mary Saotome before Yumiko Jabami’s arrival.
Set to turn into a Netflix and MAPPA anime, Kakegurui Twins released its first full-length trailer on June 5, giving fans a first glimpse into the precarious downside of school gaming culture.
The trailer begins with Tsuzura Hanatemari (CV Rina Honnizumi, Cure Ange, Hugtto! Precure) introducing the audience to Hyakkao Private Academy’s game-based hierarchy system, which locates a student solely by the success of each.
Gambling is simply the natural way of things at Hyakkao Private Academy, to the point where students are explicitly encouraged to gamble.
However, if you accumulate a lot of gambling debts, you will go from the easy life to the cheap life of a “pet” in the blink of an eye.
Other students regard themselves as inferior to trash—or, as the trailer appears, no better than the trash itself—pets routinely subjected to a level of bullying that far exceeds the schoolyard, the typical school.

Following this interpretation, Tsuzura introduces herself, presents a photograph of herself holding water on her head and is referred to as the glove—as seen on a card circled around her neck—by another student Oori Kokoro (biography currently unknown).

Tsuzura then introduces the main character of the Kakegurui Twin, Mary Saotome (Biography: Minami Tanaka, reprise her role from the main Kakegurui series).

The trailer then moves on to find Mary and Tusuzara, propelled by the former’s belief that the sure way to win at gambling is to become a bookmaker, as they prepare to enter the world’s least famous gambling den of school in an effort to make more money.
“Win a gambling den and be funded,” Mary says. “This is the secret of the game’s success. The shortcut to winning in this academy.

Then the audience is introduced to the chairwoman of the sadistic public morals committee Juraku Sarako (Biography: Yoko Kaeda, Tsukyo, Gintama), with whom the girls must negotiate for a lair.
In the service of this goal, Juraku pits Marie against literary club president Yukimi Togakushi (Biography: Yo Yaichi, Anzu Yokoyama, Prison School) in a triple dice game.
Whoever wins the game gets the hide, but if Mari loses, she becomes Juraku’s personal pet.

Shortly thereafter, a montage of character introductions begins, beginning with Mikura Sado (Biography: Aoi Koga, Paimon, and Genshin Impact), one of Juraku’s completely loyal and submissive character pets, who can be considered as a dice dealer:
