Vietnamese President receives Speaker of Mozambique House of Representatives

The President of the Republic, Nguyen Xuan Phuc, on Wednesday morning, June 22 in Hanoi, received the President of the Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique, Esperanca Lorenda Francisco Nhiuan Bias, on an official visit to Vietnam.

President Nguyen Xuan Phuc hailed Mozambique’s election for the first time as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the term 2023-2024 by a high vote. He expressed his belief that Mozambique will perform well in this role, and contribute to peace, security, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

For her part, the President of the Mozambican Council considered that bilateral relations have developed in many fields, especially since the establishment of diplomatic relations between them.

She also thanked Vietnam for its support and assistance during the outbreak and for its election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council. She wants to gain experience in Vietnam to take this position well.

She stressed that Mozambique is ready to cooperate with Vietnam in many areas, including diplomacy, economy, culture and education.

The head of state said that Vietnam has always attached importance to strengthening traditional cooperation and friendly relations with Mozambique, considering it to be one of Vietnam’s major partners in Africa.

He stressed that Vietnam is ready to share its experience with Mozambique in the United Nations Security Council. To actively implement bilateral cooperation mechanisms, to continue to coordinate and support each other in multilateral forums.

Emphasizing that the Movitel joint telecommunications project is a successful model, demonstrating the great potential of bilateral cooperation, the President proposed to the leaders of Mozambique to continue to create favorable conditions for the operation of Movitel.

He suggested that the two sides create favorable conditions for promoting trade cooperation, which is estimated at only 200 million US dollars per year.
