The war in Ukraine helped shift the media spotlight to another part of the world. And above all, it’s never nice to think about your failures. Anger at the Taliban’s hateful policy toward women is mixed with shame and guilt for leaving them to their fate. Because the West bears its share of responsibility in the Afghan drama.
